Happy New Year 2010

With lightning speed this year has passed,
Leaving us wisdom amassed,
With one more year from yesteryears,
Strewn with joy, and shed with tears.
And yet with bliss do we receive
From elder year we take our leave,
To meet with haste our future path.
Have we forgotten the teeming wrath
Of enemies who veil their face?
Of ancient pains we did endure, of joyous news that took their place?
Do we dare hope with fervour bright
The future is our shining light
An ode we sing to futures past,
Our olden sins do we recast?
Come what may we will invite
The unknown road with all our might
Take on daily a challenge new
Our adversaries with patience hew
For roses too are fraught with thorns
And darkest dusk is smote by dawn
And so rejoice all friends so near
The advent of a new year is here!
